How to get around in Liguria using ferries and boats

Getting around in Liguria using the ferry is easy since there are frequent links to many places including tourist destinations.
The navebus, run by the company AMT Genova, is a bus service linking the city centre and the port, from Pegli to Piazza Caricamento (near the Aquarium of Genoa). It is a good way to avoid the traffic and travel in comfort using the usual city transport pass.
Companies operating links by sea include:

The Consorzio Marittimo del Tigullio runs ferry services from Genoa's port with stops in Portofino, Rapallo, Chiavari, Lavagna, Sestri Levante, the Cinque Terre and Portovenere.

Consorzio Liguria viamare offers  boat tours for sightings of cetaceans starting from Genoa's Old Port,  from April to October and, during summer months, also from Varazze, Savona, Loano, Alassio e Andora. Also available connection services to S.Fruttuoso, Portofino, Cinque Terre and Portovenere starting from Genoa's Old Port, Genoa Pegli, Arenzano, Varazze e Savona.

The Navigazione Golfo dei Poeti offers tours and excursions around the Riviera di Levante departing from La Spezia, Levanto and Portovenere and arriving in the Cinque Terre as well as Portofino and the island of Palmaria.

Trasporti Marittimi Golfo Paradiso operates links to the nearby hamlets of Punta Chiappa and San Fruttuoso all year round.
During the summer season (15.06 – 15.09), the company offers excursions and mini-cruises to the Cinque Terre, Portovenere and the Gulf of Tigullio, departing from Genoa (Old Harbour), Nervi, Bogliasco, Recco and, of course, Camogli.

In the Western Riviera, the company SanremoCetacei operates tours of whale watching from Maj to September and tours of the Gulf of Sanremo.
